2019 in Review
How 2019 Was to Us
2019 was a busy year for our company, full of transformations and realignments. Here is what I would like to mention regarding our business:
The company’s revenue grew by 47% and the number of employees grew by 65%.
We’ve built a multicultural company where people are speaking different languages. It shows how far we’ve grown as a company.
We started a process of restructuring the company to a product team structure. A year and a half ago, our employees were grouped based on their roles. Now they are grouped on the basis of what product they are working on, thereby creating multifunctional groups.
We started to develop our own hardware product, which was at the same time a great breakthrough and a great challenge. Usually, hardware development takes a lot of time — between the development of technical specifications or other documents and direct production, it can take months. We skipped the stage of documents developing and just started doing it — and we succeeded.
In the process of developing hardware, we also came to the realization of the need to design our own motherboard for the server.
It brings us to our plans for the future.
Future Plans
This is what we would like to achieve in 2020:
We’re planning to start selling our hardware and launch analytics on it. We’ve already had developed an understanding of how to process up to 60 cameras with face recognition on a single server at a decent speed.
We will continue to develop the product structure in the company, as well as to establish better communication between departments. It is necessary that the employees of one department understand what the employees of other departments are doing so that everyone understands the overall progress of the company. In addition, it is necessary to improve communication with customers and be able to tell them what we do for them and how we develop the product.
Personal Plans
As for me personally, the task of the delegation of duties remains relevant. It is important to do exactly what you not only know how to, but also love to do, and it is important that there is a person nearby who you can entrust with important aspects of your work.
And of course, I continue my path of transformation from developer to entrepreneur — this process does not happen overnight and requires constant self-development.
